If Everybody Just Pitched-In A Little Bit…

Can you afford $1 per month to save a life? If so, then please read on, because the life you'll save is the very site you're looking at.

Wikipedia does it, as does so many others. It asks for donations in order to survive. We hate to be in that same position, but we are. We need your help to make it.

But the good news is, it wouldn't take much to fix this problem. If just a small fraction of all the visitors that hit this site were to donate a small amount every month, our money worries would be over. We could then take a huge sigh of relief and focus on the kinds of things you have come to like and expect from JKI. That being, the cutting-edge, exclusive and “out of this world” information (quite often, literally) that you cannot find anywhere else on the web.

Would you please donate just $1/mo. to keep JKI up and running? Or make it $3/mo., $5/mo or more, if you can.

We get thousands of visitors a month, and we know many millions across the web are suffering from ad blindness and donation fatigue. Perhaps we've been going about this all wrong, asking for a few individuals the carry the load when it makes more sense to “crowdfund” this baby. So that's what we're hoping to do.

If just 10% of JKI traffic donated $1 per month, $3 per month, $5 per month (all less than a single cup o' joe at Starbucks), our constant money stresses would be over, and we could sustain the site indefinitely. So if you can't afford a big donation, then no worries. Make a small one, ongoing.

Thanks.

John/Sunfire/Karl, Is there a way that you could show on the Home page under the donation area how the site is doing financially for the month? I was thinking of the “Monthly goal” or “Monthly expenses” or similar, with the amount needed and the amount received for the month. That way, if if gets close to the end of the month and the goal isn’t reached, we could know that we have to dig a little deeper into our pockets. You all work so hard at this site, posting, keeping in touch with your ET/EDs, thoughtfully answering each comment, and… Read more »

I just saw the suggestion box and I see that I should have put my suggestion there–and that anonymous just gave a similar one yesterday. I thought that I had read all of the hundreds or thousands of comments!

Alexandria,

We’re working on a donation system that works, the last plug-in having failed miserably. The running tally counters produce NO money UNTIL we hit the specified goal, whereas the other approach, the “blind” donation, provides cash flow immediately but without feedback to the readers. I wish we had one that gave feedback but didn’t tie us to a pledge system. We appreciate the kudos!

Vera,

Please see the FAQ, we do not support or permit posting of GFL messages on this site, the GFL entity originates from an known Regressive/Negative/Dark Reptilian Artificial Intelligence Ship, last I heard was currently in the Sirius B System.

todor,

I believe the account thing is correct as stated by you. We’re getting organized, structurally speaking.
